the kyu collective

WHAT

The kyu collective is a global network of change-making creative firms. Made up of 23 companies working in transformational management consulting, human-centered design, behavioral science and storytelling, kyu fosters collaboration to solve the world’s biggest challenges. In response to the increasing isolation of COVID-19, kyu’s leadership knew they had to find novel ways to engage and connect their 3000 employees who live in 20+ countries. They needed to demonstrate the power of their collective strength in storytelling, design, and innovation.

HOW

The result was kin, a digital gathering for the entire collective. For the 2022 run of kin, we were responsible for naming the event, setting the 3-day curriculum, and building new-to-the-world content.

THE IMPACT

Over half of the collective would engage with kin, and the festival reinvigorated the collective spirit. The feedback was so positive that we were asked to build a tool capturing the “experience-design approach” behind the design of the festival experience. It was called Design for Magical Gatherings, a toolkit for helping others introduce or reinforce prototyping, ideation, and play behaviors within their organizations.

Beyond promotional video

In partnership with storytelling agency Godfrey Dadich, creators of the Netflix show Abstract, we created the festival’s promotional video.
