Backbase

WHAT 

Let’s be honest: banking can lack heart. Backbase, a software company that powers online banking, wanted to build deeper connections between their business and customers. They wanted to bring humanity back to banking. We started with purpose and planned to activate those words across their organization and out in the world. 

THE WORK

We led early planning and creative strategy for their annual conference, Connect, which would organize leaders from the world’s biggest banks to discuss today’s most pressing financial challenges. Before getting started, we conducted interviews with their employees, customers, and key stakeholders. In doing so, we helped Backbase define a new purpose, one that would guide the design and content for the conference: help others become the bank people love.  

As a part of the conference, we created video content that would open and close each day of the event with stories from their customers. These stories would energize the conference and demonstrate Backbase’s new commitment to human-centricity and storytelling.

THE IMPACT

We got overwhelmingly positive feedback on the conference — specifically the humanity of it. This would lead to us partnering with Backbase to design their 2020 strategy and internal rollout. As a result, Backbase has supercharged their organization through purpose, design, and storytelling and are helping to re-imagine banking in a way that puts humans at its heart. That’s impact. End stop.
